A Weatherford man is due in Custer County District Court next month after being charged with domestic assault and battery by strangulation, a felony.
23-year-old Charles Michael Davis, Junior, is free on bond after allegedly choking his girlfriend during a fight.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Weatherford Police were called to a home in the 200 block of North Texas Avenue recently following an alleged altercation between Davis and a woman reported to be 14-weeks pregnant at the time.
Later, when questioned, Davis asked police why they were questioning and then asked, “Is it because of my girlfriend?” He explained that he never struck her, but did push her with his two hands.
The victim told police that earlier that night, the two argued. She said Davis poured a smoothie on her, then a bottle of water and finally shoved her and grabbed her by the neck. He then used two hands and allegedly choked her before realizing what he was doing and stopped.
The victim reportedly locked herself inside the bathroom, took pictures of her injuries and called for help.
Davis has no prior domestic assault related charges. He bonded out of the Custer County jail on a $20-thousand dollar bond and is due in court for a preliminary hearing conference on September 7 at 9 am.
