A Blood Donor Challenge allows area residents to give life with Oklahoma Blood Institute. Healthy adults can typically donate blood and receive stuff, like an OBI blood donor “challenge” T-shirt.
The Cheyenne community and OBI is partnering Tuesday as they host a “blood donor challenge” from 1 pm until 6 pm.
All donors who participate in the challenge will be given Blood Donor Challenge T-shirts and will additionally receive the good feeling that giving blood provides donors.
The drive will be held at the Family Center at the First Baptist Church in Cheyenne located at 608 East Broadway. The drive is actually sponsored by Roger Mills Memorial Hospital.
Hospitals and medical facilities across the state of Oklahoma including Roger Mills Memorial and Great Plains Regional Medical Center and AllianceHealth Clinton depend on the generosity of individual donors with OBI to meet needs 24/7, 365 days every year.
OBI’s president and CEO, John Armitage says, “Thousands have already taken the Blood Donor Challenge, but blood doesn’t last long and can’t be stockpiled.” He says for those who haven’t given in the last two months, please consider it, again.
OBI relies on donations from an average of 1-thousand donors each day to meet the needs of its patients. One single donation can save as many as three lives.
OBI is the ninth largest, non-profit blood center in America, providing every drop of blood needed by patients in 154 state medical facilities including hospitals throughout Paragon Communications listening area.
