By Paragon News Director Paul Joseph –

The City of Cordell is under a precautionary boil advisory after a major line break in their water system.

According to city officials, the line has been repaired, but the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality hasn’t given the city an “all clear” to begin using the water, again.

The voluntary boil advisory was issued for the potential for contamination as a result of the situation.

In a statement sent out by city officials, the drinking of water supplied by the New Cordell Utility Authority may be unsafe for human consumption and as a precaution, the city advised customers of the situation – adding that consumers should boil the water for at least one minute before consumption, food preparation, dish washing, brushing of teeth, wound care and bathing infants who may ingest their bathwater.

Officials issued the boil advisory on Saturday night just before 11 pm and are expecting the all clear at any time.
