Texas Troopers have made another sizable drug bust on the interstate.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over $1.1 million in illegal drugs Saturday afternoon.
Texas officials say around 3:05 p.m., a DPS trooper stopped a 2003 Honda van for a traffic violation on Interstate 40 near Conway, in Carson County. During the traffic stop, a DPS canine unit was called and alerted on the vehicle. The trooper then conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered several packages of heroin and cocaine located in a compartment underneath the rear floorboard. Together the heroin and cocaine weighed over 16 pounds.
The driver was identified as 45-year-old Alejandro Icedo of Tucson, Arizona. Icedo was arrested, booked into the Carson County jail and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
Officials say the illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
