By Paul Joseph, Paragon Communications News Director –

Cordell Memorial Hospital is only a week-and-a-half away from opening up a $3-million dollar renovation.

Hospital CEO Landon Hise says the hospital is upgrading its facilities, its efficiency and its care.

He says it’s the first phase of a $3 million renovation project that began last fall and is almost complete. Hise says once the Oklahoma Department of Healt approves the facility – which he expects they’ll do on or before Friday, March 25, they’re set to open the next Monday, the 28th.

Hise says the renovation that began in October covers 10 patient rooms, a shower room, a prayer room and a linen closet. It was a major renovation.

He says when the health department approves phase one, the hospital will immediately begin phase two which includes four patient rooms, a new central nurse’s station, a new ER nurse’s station, a new triage room, and flooring throughout.

Cosmetic upgrades in Phase two – which won’t be nearly as extensive or take as long – will include new flooring and paint throughout most of the hospital and new interior and exterior signage.

Hise says $3-million dollars is a lot of money, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t go as far as it used to.

Hise says the phase one and phase two projects are part of an overall vision leadership has for the hospital.

He says because of the renovation, the hospital team has moved the annual health fair usually held in March to June or July to coincide with the completion of the entire renovation project. He says that’s when they’ll also hold an open house to show off the like-new facility.

The projected date for the fully completed project is early July but probable closer to late June.
