Blaize Teague remains in custody without bond, however, he’ll be moved to jail facilities in Beckham County.
Teague is the 14-year-old suspected of murdering of a 36-year-old Cordell mother.
The teenager was in Washita County District Court Thursday with his attorneys as they addressed several motions in the case including appealing a judge’s recent ruling that Teague be tried as an adult.
The judge agreed to the motion and Teague will be sent for testing and examined before the next preliminary hearing in order to determine if he should be tried as an adult or a juvenile. Until then, Teague’s bond has been denied.
Teague was seen to communicate with his attorneys but appeared to avoid eye contact with his family members who were also in the courtroom.
Teague is charged with murder in the first-degree, shooting with intent to kill and burglary in the first degree from an incide nt in the early morning hours of July 20. Blaize Claude-Eugene Teague of Corn is thought to have killed Tammi Thomas before attacking an shooting Thomas’ 14-year-old son during the intrusion into the home in the 400 block of South Market Streein Cordell.
A probable cause affidavit indicates that the young teenager was allegedly targeting the woman’s son, identified as CT, not necessarily her.
During the motion hearing, Teague was ordered transferred on Friday to the Beckham County Youth Detention Facility where facilities will allow him to be housed in solitude away from other prisoners and where his education can continue unimpeded.
Teague allegedly forced open an unlocked window on the Thomas’ residence and crawled in while wearing a ghillie suit, a type of camouflage clothing designed to resemble the background environment such as foliage.
Tammi Thomas sustained a gunshot wound to the head and died. A mangled led fragment was removed from Thomas’ body during an autopsy. Her son underwent surgery in the same Oklahoma City hospital where Thomas died. He was initially listed in critical condition, but he has since recovered.
A preliminary hearing conference is set for October 3 for Teague, however, results from his evaluation aren’t expected by then, but should be ready by November 7 when he’s scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing.
