A speeding motorcyclist was left alone by law enforcement speeding down the Interstate early this week – simply because he was speeding.
One of the reasons for the decision was because officer’s couldn’t pursue him. He was allegedly going an estimated 180 miles an hour.
According to the Clinton Daily News, the speedster wasn’t an ordinary speeder.
It all began around 10:12 pm, Monday night when a Burns Flat officer initiated the pursuit on State Highway 44 heading north out of town. It ended when the last of the law enforcement agencies heard that he’d hit an estimated 180 miles an hour near Hydro.
Spokespersons for four law enforcement agencies contacted by the Clinton Daily News, including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, indicated the case was either called off or officers never got involved because a pursuit at those high speeds would have been too dangerous, for the motorcyclist, the officers and any other vehicles in the area.
Captain Brad Neidy with the Highway Patrol out of Clinton reportedly said his troopers never really got in the chase. The problem was, Neidy said, the cyclist was ahead of us.
At 180 miles an hour, the vehicle was, simply, unpursuable. If that’s a word.
Anyway, the rider and his motorcycle got away. At least, this time.
