The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is turning up the heat on finding a man that’s wanted for questing in a Cordell home invasion and murder.

A reward of up to $5-thousand dollars is being offered for information in the murder of 36-year-old Tammi Thomas and the shooting of her 14-year-old son.

Anyone with information that might help lead to the person who committed the crime is being asked to call the OSBI hotline.

According to a spokeswoman with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, agents are still running leads in the investigation and they may have narrowed the search down to one suspect.

The OSBI’s Jessica Brown says Thomas’ son has been released from an Oklahoma City hospital where – both – he and his fatally wounded mother were taken. Brown says the boy has been interviewed at least twice following the shooting.

The Washita County Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call just after 1 am on July 20 to a home in the 400 block of South Market.

When they arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Thomas died several hours later. Her son underwent surgery and was later listed in critical condition.

The boy reportedly heard the attack on his mother in another part of the houme and hurriedly found his 7-year-old younger brother and ushered him inside of another room, possibly a closet for his protection.

Witnesses say he may have confronted the attacker with a baseball bat and the gun went off during the attack, possibly by accident. Injured, he made his way across the street to a home to find help.

According to the Clinton Daily News, the homeowners were out of town, but their doorbell was wired with a camera which alerted the homeowner remotely. Information was additionally relayed to the Washita County Sheriff’s office.

The OSBI recently released information about he suspect sustaining a blunt force trauma injury to his right forearm. That information helped generate leads, but agents have not identified a suspect at this point.

If anyone has information that can help lead to the man who committed the crime, they’re asked to call the hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
