Three people were arrested early on the 4th of July at an area convenience store on felony charges including drugs.

Two of the three are being held in jail on half-a-million dollars bond, each.

27-year-old Cameron Carter Clowdus of Sayre and 22-year-old Weston D. Cole of Sentinel are in the Beckham County Detention Facility today after being arrested on the recent holiday morning.

A female passenger with them, 22-year-old Marilyn Ann McAlister of Hollis is out of jail on a $25-thousand dollar bond. She’s charged with trafficking in Methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause affidavit, while on patrol, an Elk City Police officer pulled into a convenience store on South Main Street about 3 am and immediately recognized Clowdus standing inside the front passenger door of a large four-door, black “dually” pickup.

The court document says the officer was familiar with Clowdus and knew that the District 2 Drug Task Force was actively investigating him in reference to narcotics crimes. It additionally says that task force investigators told the officer that if he ever saw Clowdus to hold him for questioning.

When approached, Clowdus appeared “very nervous” and looked around, glancing over both shoulders. He then shoved both of his hands in his pockets, though he was immediately told to keep his hands out where police could see them.

Clowdus has prior firearm charges and was just arrested in April for possession of a firearm after previous conviction. He was pulled over on April 13 traveling 94 miles-an-hour in a 55 mile per hour zone and allegedly found with a 9 mm pistol. It had a round in the chamber and 13 rounds in a magazine, according to a report.

Allegedly found in Clowdus’ pockets was a large amount of crystallized substance that later tested positive for meth, weighing 64 grams. More was allegedly found in another pant pocket.

Cole then walked out of the store toward the pickup and police. He allegedly admitted that he had a weapon in the vehicle, a double, magazine-loaded, short barreled AR-15 rifle. It was stored barrel down between the driver’s seat and the console. An additional magazine loaded with multiple rounds of ammunition was located on top of the console.

Officers allegedly found a zip-lock baggie with what later tested out to be 3.8 grams of meth. In the back pocket of the front seat, police found and another nine grams of meth, a meth pipe and a working set of digital scales along with several cell phones.

In McAlister’s purse, officers allegedly found a marijuana grinder with marijuana inside. She’s due in Beckham County District Court for a preliminary hearing on September 19.

A criminal history check for Clowdus shows multiple felony convictions for CDS out of Texas, a felony conviction out of Oklahoma as well as referred cases involving CDS and firearm charges.

Cole’s criminal history includes a guilty plea on a felony charge of possession of a CDS in Canadian County.

Formal charges for Clowdus and Cole haven’t been listed and no court dates have yet been announced in online court records.
